The Uganda People’s Defense Forces [UPDF] national army has distanced itself malicious propaganda circulating in media connecting Gen David Muhoozi the [CDF] to having had a meeting with the Moses Nkonge Kibalama the National Unity Platform founder over NUP wars.
The Army deputy spokesperson Lt. Col. Deo Akiiki said on Friday that UPDF had no any role in NUP party problems involving NUP founders and Presidential candidate hopeful Hon.Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
Lt. Col. Deo Akiiki said Kibalama is playing hide and see politics where he is twisting words explaining that the CDF Gen. David Muhoozi has never summoned him for any meeting in connection to NUP party Politics as alleged in the social media.
Deo Akiiki who admitted that CDF Muhoozi met and held talks with Kibalama said the meeting was at the latter’s request.
“I think it is almost coming to a month; that meeting happened long before he even left his residence,” Akiiki clarified.
Col Akiiki also trolled Bobi Wine’s team of trying to blow this matter out to context in order to tarnish the UPDF.
“No amount of twisting tongues should bring the CDF in disrepute. Let the process of court continue without tainting the good record of CDF and the mind of the public on the NUP party matters”.
When appeared in Court on Friday in Kampala Kibalama told High Court that he, together with colleagues he didn’t disclose, held a meeting with the army commander in which they discussed among others, issues concerning the change of name and leadership of his NUP party.
Kibalama said the meeting took place on a Sunday, but did not mention the date and venue.
Mr. Kibalama who cried several times during cross examination on Friday also asked court to help him regain his freedom claiming that he was summoned and quizzed by Gen. Muhoozi, about changes in party leadership before ordering for his military detention.
Mr. Kibalama also disowned the video in which he appeared claiming that he was promised USD5 million by Bobi Wine to change party leadership.
