The National Unity Platform (NUP) party won the majority in the Makindye East and West youth local council elections leaving the National Resistance Movement (NRM) with nothing.
According to the results declared Monday morning by the returning officer Ramathan Mawanda, NUP won eight seats in the Kansanga local youth council and its party flag bearer in selected villages Male zone and Sebuliba zone, Drake Ssematiko and Isaac Kabiito were declared the new youth chairpersons elect for the respective zones after winning Esther Nalumansi and Lugya John the NRM flag bearer with 34 to 16 votes and 45 to 08 votes respectively.
The newly elected Male zone youth chairman Drake Ssematiiko who is heading the NUP mobilization team in Kansanga said that they have now focused their minds to the Youth Member of parliament seat.
“We have now changed our strategy of campaigning now we want to push the NRM out of Makindye Division after capturing the village top seat,” vowed Ssematiiko.
Ssematiiko vowed to lead the mobilization team in Kansanga and have the NRM party flag bearer for Makindye division Youth seat out of the race.
The newly elected Male zone Youth council complies of; Drake Ssematiiko as Chairman, Vice chairman Winnie Nansamba, Publicity has Derrick Baale, General secretary-Christine Namwajje, Secretary for Labour-Sulait Ndikabona, Secretary for Sports-Geofrey Birungi, Secretary for Students-Joan Namayanja, Secretary for Female-Asher Abel Nalwoga and Secretary for Fiance-Jesca Namuli.
