According to a local tabloid, some artists confess to being paid drinks while all others get is transport and exposure.

However, all these struggles are alien to seasoned veteran Ragga Dee.

According to Ragga Dee, he confesses to getting $10,000 (shs36,000,000) as his first-ever payment in the music industry.

Ragga Dee says he got this job from a Congolese promoter back in the day.

“When I had just started singing, there is a Congolese promoter who took me to Arua and paid me $10,000 for my performance,” he said.

Ragga Dee is one of the most notable artists in terms of wealth and it is a testament to him having used money calculatedly.

Ragga Dee says that he used the money to go to the UK, a place he was inspired to start importing cars to Uganda.

According to the ‘Ndigida’ singer, the business brought him profits instantly.

He adds that he did this to prove to his father, who had discouraged him from doing music, that the arts were still a profitable trade.

Ragga Dee is a highly acclaimed artiste in Uganda, having started his career in 1988.

Through his musical amalgamation of reggae, hip-hop, and Lingala, he has won numerous awards including the Ragga Artist of the Year, in 2004 and 2005 at the Pearl of Africa Music (PAM) awards.

In 2006, he was awarded a PAM award for best video of the year.
