Museveni off to Japan for TICAD Summit

The President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni left for the Japanese city of Yokohama on Monday, to join other African heads of state and government for a three-day 7th edition of the Tokyo International Conference for African Development (TICAD) Summit.

The President was seen off at Entebbe International Airport by the minister for the presidency, Esther Mbayo, the head of public service, John Mitala and the Commander of Air Force, Lt Gen. Charles Lwanga Lutaaya.

Assistant Inspector General of Police Asan Kasingye and the Commissioner General of Prisons, Dr Johnson Byabashaija were also at the airport.

TICAD is a summit-level international conference that focuses on the socio-economic development of Africa launched by Japan in 1993.

The 6th TICAD summit took place in Nairobi, Kenya in 2016.
