Uganda has concluded new Bilateral Air Services Agreements (BASAs) with Brazil, Iceland, Algeria and Benin, bringing the total number of BASAs to 56.

According to Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), the agreements were concluded at the ICAO Air Services Negotiation Event (ICAN2023) held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, earlier this month.

“The BASAs will facilitate opening of air links between Uganda and the respective States and beyond,” UCAA said via its official X handle.

The Ugandan team comprised the UCAA Deputy Director General, Olive Birungi Lumonya, John Bosco Suuza, the Ministry of Justice Director Legal Advisory Services, Deo Nyanzi, Uganda Airlines’ Manager Government Relations and Routes Coordination, and Christopher Kasozi, UCAA’s Ag. Manager Economic Regulation.

It should be recalled that  Uganda and Saudi Arabia in November signed the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) that will facilitate scheduled international air services for airlines from both countries. The BASA was signed on November 10, 2023, in Riyadh, on the sidelines of the Saudi-Africa Summit.
