Uganda is entering its most critical stretch of the academic year as the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has officially released the timetables for the 2025 national exams. More than 1.4 million learners will be sitting for their final assessments across the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).

According to Uneb Executive Director Mr. Daniel Odongo, this year’s examination cycle will begin with the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) candidates. Head teachers will conduct the mandatory briefing on October 10, guiding candidates on regulations and ethical conduct before the first papers commence on October 13. The opening subjects will be Geography in the morning and Biology in the afternoon. UCE papers will run until November 7.

For primary candidates, October 31 has been set aside for the pre-exam briefing. Pupils will then sit for Mathematics and Social Studies/Religious Education on November 3, and conclude on November 4 with Integrated Science and English.

The final group to sit will be Uganda’s A’ Level candidates. Their briefing will take place on November 7, before they start their papers on November 10. Subjects on day one include Theory of Government, History of Africa, and Physics Paper One in the morning session, followed by Literature, Kiswahili, and Physics Paper Two in the afternoon.

Mr. Odongo noted that the structured timetable is designed to ensure fairness, smooth coordination, and adequate preparation across the three examination categories. He emphasized that the briefings remain crucial in reminding candidates about examination rules, the importance of integrity, and the consequences of malpractice.

With the release of the timetables, schools, candidates, and parents can now shift their focus entirely to revision and readiness, marking the beginning of the final lap in Uganda’s 2025 education calendar.
