Reject NRM’s ‘empty’ promises, FDC tells Teso!

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi and party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat have urged the people of Teso to reject what they called the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) government’s “lies and empty promises” and vote for change in the January 2026 general elections.

Addressing supporters in Teso, Mafabi criticised the government for failing to fulfil its long-standing pledge to compensate residents whose cattle were lost during past insurgencies.

He accused the NRM of weaponising the compensation issue against opposition leaders, citing the recent arrests of Amuriat and two Soroti City MPs over the “No cow, no vote” campaign.

According to Mafabi, the committee set up to handle the compensation matter was merely a political ploy to keep the people of Teso in false hope and win their votes.

Time for Change

The FDC leaders said it was unrealistic for Teso to expect meaningful change from a government that has neglected the region for nearly four decades. They outlined the party’s key priorities for the 2026 elections:

Better living standards: Putting money in the pockets of ordinary Ugandans

Improved healthcare: Equipping health facilities to provide quality services

Quality education: Enhancing education systems and policies that empower citizens

Equity and empowerment: Promoting fairness and equal opportunities for all

Mafabi and Amuriat called on the people of Teso to rally behind the FDC, saying the party understands their struggles and is committed to delivering genuine transformation.
