EOC tribunal start hearing Rushegyera’s family case against Gov’t

The Equal opportunities commission has today begun hearing of matters of the Late Eliazari Rushegyera’s Family and others in which they demand compensation from government for properties false fully taken in 1982.

The equal opportunities commission tribunal set at Ankole Resort Hotel in Bushenyi led by Judge Joel Ojjuko has today 24th June 2020 started hearing a case where Jane Rushegyera a wife to the late Eliazari Rushegyera, Katungwensi Rubambansi, Muhame Abius and others raised a matter against government for having taken their properties without compensation.

The said properties which include Land plot in Nyakabirizi that was given to now Bushenyi Primary teachers college, cattle and a vehicle typed Tata lorry registration number UWO 011 that belonged to Rushegyera Family that was forcefully taken by the army in 1982.

The rest of complainants had land which was given to the teachers college at Nyakabirizi.

Judge Ojjuko has instructed the attorney General representative Ms Ritah Karembe to make more consultations on the matter from the office of Bushenyi Resident District Commissioner and the office of Prime minister within the given 45 days.

The matter has been adjourned until a new date will be fixed and the final hearing field for final judgment.

Eliazari Rushegyera was in early 1980s a great business man in Bushenyi town and a UPC supporter; he died during that time before the NRA government came into power.
