Speaking during a prayer session attended by Muslim leaders from across Africa and beyond, Sheikh Mubaje congratulated President Yoweri Museveni and the NRM on the milestone, while urging leaders at all levels to govern with integrity, humility and accountability.

“We congratulate the National Resistance Movement on this 40th anniversary,” Sheikh Mubaje said. He also congratulated President Museveni on his re-election, praying that God grant him “wisdom, humility, steadfastness and sincerity” to govern with fairness and compassion.

The Mufti called on newly elected Members of Parliament and other public officials to serve the country with integrity, sound judgment and patience, and warned against arrogance and corruption. He further appealed for reconciliation following the election period, urging political actors who did not prevail to pursue “lawful and peaceful remedies.”

“Remove rancor and bitterness, guide all parties toward reconciliation, dialogue and lawful processes, and preserve peace and stability in our motherland, Uganda,” he said.

Sheikh Mubaje also prayed for peace across the East African region and the African continent, calling for stronger regional cooperation, justice and stability. He paid tribute to Ugandans who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom and prayed for vulnerable groups, including farmers, youth, orphans, widows and the marginalized.

The event was attended by senior Muslim leaders from Ghana, Botswana, Nigeria, South Africa, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Rwanda, reflecting Uganda’s growing role in regional Islamic leadership and interfaith engagement.
