Israel Says IRGC Intelligence Chief Majid Khademi Eliminated as Iran Confirms Death

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says it has “eliminated” Majid Khademi, the head of the intelligence arm of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), following earlier reports from Iran confirming his death.

In a statement, the IDF described Khademi as one of the IRGC’s most senior commanders, with extensive experience in intelligence and security roles. It said he played a central role in gathering intelligence used by Iran’s leadership and was involved in strategic military assessments.

The Israeli military further alleged that Khademi was engaged in advancing attacks against Israel and Jewish targets worldwide, and had been linked to efforts targeting American individuals. It also claimed he oversaw surveillance of Iranian civilians and was involved in suppressing internal protests.

Iranian state media had earlier reported that Khademi was killed in what it described as a “terrorist attack” carried out by the United States and Israel. Those claims have not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate public confirmation from Washington.

Khademi had led the IRGC’s intelligence organisation since 2025, after his predecessor was killed in earlier strikes attributed to Israel. Before that, he headed the IRGC’s Intelligence Protection Organisation and held senior roles within Iran’s defence establishment.

The IRGC intelligence unit is one of the most powerful security bodies in Iran, responsible for domestic surveillance and counter-intelligence, often operating alongside civilian intelligence agencies.

The killing marks a significant escalation in tensions between Israel and Iran, with both sides offering sharply differing accounts of the circumstances surrounding Khademi’s death.
