In a bid to strengthen NRM and building cohesion in Kasese and Rwenzori subregion residents are requesting the head of state yoweri Kaguta Museveni to consider rewarding hard working cadres especially those who raised the flag of the party high and for championing nationa development programmes and the the party programmes like emyooga and PDM, Among the workholic cadres residents named Marylin Kabugho whose work and impact caused mindset for the people of Kasese from predominant FDC to supporting NRM all through benefit from the forthcoming cabinet appointments for Ministerial Position, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Cadres; drawn from Rwenzori Sub-Region and Kasese District in particular, have implored President Yoweri Museveni to consider the sons and daughters of the soil for Ministerial appointments.

According to Section 111 of the 1995 Constitution of Uganda, as amended in 2005, Rwenzori sub-Region NRM Cadres are asking President Museveni to consider rewarding best performing cadres in the region for the ministerial positions

“We are not asking too much, we only need key ministerial positions; one for Dr.Kiyonga Christopher an NRM Veteran leader who came back as member of parliament and your daughter Marylin Kabugho, who stood for NRM ticket but did not make it finally,” said  Kasese town resident, Tom Baluku.

Mr. Baluku, said Ms. Kabugho has kept a good networking record within the NRM cadres and members, and has tremendous projects in the district, including carrying out mobilization for the NRM in Kasese community development projects.

Formerly a stronghold for opposition Forum For Democratic Change (FDC), Rwenzori Sub-Region electorate has swiftly changed guards in favor of the NRM Ruling party, according to recent high votes registered in favor of NRM for the 2026 Presidential, Parliamentary and local government elections.

“In a bid to strengthen NRM grassroots support in Kasese and Rwenzori sub region members of the party want president Museveni to consider appointing more of their children in highly key positions; such as ministerial ones”, said John Mate, a member of NRM resident in Kasese town.

Mr. Mate said appointing Rwenzori sub region sons and daughters of the soil to these positions would strengthen NRM presence in the region.

“In addition, this would strengthen the cohesion and consolidation of the gains achieved by NRM for the last so many years”, he added.

Currently, there are 32 Cabinet ministers and 50 Ministers of State in the Cabinet of Uganda (2021 to 2026).
