The office of the National Vice Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Michael Toyota Nuwagira, is organizing a dinner in honour of the Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations (SPA/SO), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 52nd Birthday Run, a charity event organised to raise funds for vulnerable children.
In a statement released on Monday, Nuwagira announced that the dinner is scheduled to take place this Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Protea Hotel Skyz, Naguru.
The statement clarified that event is strictly reserved for Members of Parliament only adding that the date for a general dinner for all supporters will be communicated in due course.
“Members of Parliament are further informed that their running kits will be available for collection at the venue on the day of the dinner. A list of the organizing committee for this event will be released as soon as possible,” the statement read
In recent days, the Director of Mobilization for the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Micheal Mawanda clarified that the running kits are available at the PLU Secretariat in Kampala.
“We encourage all supporters and participants to turn up in large numbers and begin collecting their kits as soon as possible to secure participation in this landmark event,” he said.
The 52nd Gen. Muhoozi Birthday Run is expected to draw more than 50,000 people to Kololo Independence Grounds on April 26.
It is held annually in honour Gen Muhoozi and has grown into one of Uganda’s most visible public mobilisation events. Organised by the Patriots Club and the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Gen. Muhoozi is expected to lead participants as chief runner.
The high-profile event is expected to attract ministers, Members of Parliament, foreign dignitaries, and supporters from across the country.
In recent days, Acting Director of Defence Public Information (DDPI), Colonel Chris Magezi, described the run as a unifying initiative that continues to draw thousands of young participants.
Police Spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke said officers will be stationed along key routes leading to Kololo Independence Grounds to ensure smooth movement and crowd control.
“We are fully prepared. A detailed traffic management plan will be shared in advance, and officers will be on the ground to guide motorists and pedestrians,” Rusoke said.
Last year’s 51st edition focused on environmental conservation under the “Greening Uganda” campaign, with participants championing tree planting and climate awareness efforts.
It was flagged off by Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga and attracted a large turnout at the same venue.
Organisers say the annual event continues to evolve into a platform for promoting fitness, patriotism and social causes, while strengthening community engagement among Uganda’s youth.
