An authentic source from the health ministry said the deceased presented with signs and symptoms consistent with COVID-19 which included cough, fever, chest pain and difficulty in breathing.

Uganda registers another COVID-19 Death, she was an 80-year-old female resident of Mengo, Kisenyi III.

According to the health ministry, the woman was first admitted at Platinum hospital in Kampala and later referred to Mengo hospital for further treatment.

A source from the health ministry said the deceased presented with signs and symptoms consistent with COVID-19 which included cough, fever, chest pain and difficulty in breathing.

“She was referred to Mengo hospital from Platinum on July 24 but unfortunately passed away on the same day at 6.30pm,” the source revealed.

Samples were drawn and sent to the Uganda Virus Research Institute for analysis and results showed samples tested positive for COVID-19.

Uganda registered its first COVID-19 death in Mbale district on July 21.

This was a support staff working at Wasungui health centre II in Namisindwa district.

When contacted, health ministry spokesperson Emmanuel Ainebyoona, said: “Yes, more details coming in a press release.”
