The president general of Democratic Party Norbert Mao, has come out and stressed his concern about the suffering Ugandans who have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and said that they should be helped to come out of the situation.

While speaking in a press conference at the party headquarters in Mengo-Balintuma, Mao asked the government not to bring back the lockdown to Ugandans.

Mao said that Ugandans have suffered enough, traders are shocking on loans, and tenants cannot pay bills.

Mao said that the government should find other alternatives of fostering the standard operating procedures as guided by the ministry of Health.

“The government should put more efforts on sensitizing people on sanitizing, wearing of masks and observing social distancing than putting a lockdown.” Mao emphasized.

Mao advised fellow politicians to apologize when found victims of noncompliance to the Covid-19 directives as were guided by the ministry of health.

Mao also called upon the government to speed up the procurement for the Covid-19 vaccine as Ugandans are continuing to suffer because of the lockdown than the virus itself.
