FUFA Orders Villa to Pay 11.7m to Kalyowa

The Uganda Premier League title holders SC Villa has been ordered to pay there player Emmanuel Kalyowa his arrears amounting to11.7m by Federation of Uganda football associations (FUFA) Dispute Resolution Chamber.

The decision comes after the player lodged his case to the Federation after going months without pay, according to Fufa tweet seen by paper sport on Tuesday evening the UPL club Villa will have to pay the arrears in 30 days to Emmanuel Kalyowa from the 25th August 2020 of this decision.

Kalyowa recently slammed SC Villa management over unpaid salaries before running to FUFA to intervene afte he had gone 10 months without pay and accused the club of clearing about two months for selected players.

Last season, the former Tooro United FC player scored three goals as Villa finished third with 46 points under Coach Edward Kaziba.

According to sources, Kalyowa is expected to join another UPL team with the decision from FUFA coming after his contract with Villa had expired.

This will open more doors for other players who have gone months without pay from other clubs like Busoga United, Kyetume, Onduparaka FC among others.

The Full Ruling from Emojong Peter Eria – Chairperson Dispute Resolution Chamber, reads…On 28th January 2019, Emmanuel Kalyowa (player) signed a one-year employment contract with SC Villa (Club).

The club undertook to pay the player a monthly salary of UGX 1,500,000 (One million five hundred thousand shillings only).

The club paid the UGX 1,500,000 for the months of January and February 2019 and did not pay for the months of March, April, May, June and July 2019.

From August 2019 to January 2020, the player only received UGX 800,000 each month which is a partial payment of his total salary for every month.

On 3rd August 2020, the player petitioned seeking for payment of his overdue payables.

Emmanuel Kalyowa appeared before the Chamber while SC Villa was represented by its CEO, Shawn Mubiru. Matter to determine whether the club breached the contract with the player. Findings.

The player signed an employment contract with SC Villa in 2019.

The club in its response admitted to having made partial payments of UGX 800,000 for six (6) months and to also having made no payments for five (5) months from March 2019 to July 2019.

The total overdue payables owed to Emmanuel Kalyowa are UGX 11,700,000 (Eleven Million seven hundred thousand shillings only) SC Villa’s persistent failure to pay the salary of the contracted player for such a long period of time is considered as an unjustified breach of an employment contract by the club.

Decision In consideration of the findings above, the Dispute resolution Chamber hereby orders that SC Villa pays Emmanuel Kalyowa his overdue payables of UGX 11,700,000 (Eleven Million seven hundred thousand Uganda shillings) within thirty (30) days from the date of this decision.

In the event that the amount due to Emmanuel Kalyowa is not paid by SC Villa within the stated time limit, the present matter shall be submitted, upon request, to FUFA for consideration.

Emmanuel is directed to inform SC Villa immediately and directly of the account number to which the remittance is to be made and to notify the Chamber of every payment received.
