Candidates under the NUP umbrella in Bukanga Isingiro district have come out to express dissatisfaction with the way Electoral Commission officials treated them during nominations.

Speaking to Homeland Newspaper, Shafik Ddembe the NUP coordinator Isingiro District said that Six candidates from Isingiro district have for the last four days been frustrated by the electoral commission Officials at Bukanga County Headquarters by intentionally refusing to nominate them yet they nominated candidates from others parties especially NRM and FDC.

Shafic alleges that the Electoral commission officials dilly-dallied around the matter and refused to nominate six NUP candidates without giving them any clear reason.

Ddembe Shafic also accuses Electoral Commission Officials in Isingiro of forcing NUP candidates to change to Independent so that they can be nominated which indeed happened.

Two aspiring Mayor candidates from Endinzi Town council and Bugango Town council, one subcounty Chairperson contestant from Mbaare sub county together with four councillors are some of the NUP candidates that have failed to get nominated by Electoral Commission.

The Returning Officer of Isingiro District, Mr. David Mukundane told Homeland Newspaper on a phone that he had indeed heard about the matter and they are working on it.

David Mukundanesaid that the NUP candidates that had not been nominated had failed to provide the required number of signatures from community members seconding their candidature.

He assured the candidates that the matter is being handled and they will be nominated before the official deadline.
