President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Sunday met Chinese enjoy H.E Yang Jiechi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, who delivered a message from H.E Xi Jinping, president of the People’s Republic of China.

The two leaders agreed to strengthen their countries’ political and economic ties and business partnerships.

Hon. Sam Kutesa, the Uganda Minister of Foreign Affairs, received H.E. Yang Jiechi at Entebbe International Airport on Saturday evening and later on Sunday welcomed him together with his delegation at State House Entebbe, ahead of the meeting with President Museveni.

H.E. Yang Jiechi arrived in Uganda for an official working visit from 20th – 21st February 2021 at the invitation of H.E. Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda.

According to the Foreign Affairs ministry, the main purpose his visit was to further bolster the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries which has since been elevated to the status of Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership (CPC).

President Museveni later met H.E. Yang Jiechi at State House Entebbe, to discuss ways of strengthening and consolidating bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of both Uganda and China and how Uganda can acquire COVID-19 vaccines from China.
