The government has accepted to accord the Late Mathias Kasamba an official burial, the NRM National Treasurer, Rose Namayanja Nsereko told The Homeland Newspaper.

According to Namayanja, who is the National Treasurer of the NRM party said, the programme has been agreed upon by the government and family members during the organizing committee meeting held at Pope Paul Memorial Hotel in Rubaga on Wednesday afternoon.

Hon. Namayanja Nsereko said that Kasamba has been a sitting member of EALA, a Director at NRM Secretariat, a former MP, and a citizen of high reputation, adding that these among others have earned him an official burial from the government.

Namayanja said that the government has designated State Minister for Tourism Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi who is also the Central Region CEC Member to Chair the Organising Committee.

Burial will be on Friday April 30th, 2021 at the deceased’s home at Katovu Village, Kakuuto County in Kyotera district at 4pm.

The meeting was attended by EALA MP who also doubles as the Chairpersons of the Ugandan MPs to the East African Parliament, Hon George Odongo, Hon James Kakooza, Hon Mike Sebalu and Brig. Gen Elly Kayanja among others.

The Burial Programme is as below:

Wednesday April 28th, Hon.Kasamba’s body will removed from Nakasero Hospital to the Funeral Home.

On Thursday, April 29th, at 01:00 Pm: Body driven from Rubaga to Kyotera District. and at 04:00 Pm the program shall proceed to Church Service at Sanje Parish at 06:00 Pm Kasamba’s body will arrive at his home for a night Vigil.

On Friday, April 30th, at exactly 10:00 Am, Church Service at Katovu Town Council Ground will begin, and thereafter at 04:00 Pm, Burial will start at the deceased’s home in Kakuto Kyotera district.

Hon.Mathias Kasamba will be remembered for championing the promotion of agriculture through establishment of a parliamentary committee on food security and also promoting the growing of coffee in the country and he established a parliamentary forum on coffee.

He represented Kakuto county under NRM ticket and East African Legislative Assembly [EALA] he was appointed director of Mobilisation for NRM part of the position he has held to his death, he has been a great supporter of the NRM and its community and national development programs.
