KISORO: Police arrests Female Pastor, Followers over Illegal Prayers

Police in Kisoro district is holding seven people including a female pastor who were found conducting prayers at a colleague’s home in Kibande Village, Muhindura Kanaba Sub County.

The seven were on Thursday evening at around 4:00Pm arrested by police alongside the sub county councilor Emmanuel Nigonsaba after a tip off from one of the residents.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional Police spokesperson has identified the seven as Peace Nyirahabwe Lydia 20, a pastor of Born again Ministries from Kibande village, Phiona Ntaringutimana 20, Pofia Nyiramahoro 18, Jane Nyiramukyo 17, Immaculate Dusengimana 18, Sylvia Musabimana 18, and Jacklyn Watukunde 17.

Maate said that the arrested are currently held at Kisoro police station for safe custody.

Karorero Kanizio the chairperson LC1in Kibanda village that he had warned Lydia Nyirahabwe on several occasions to stop conducting players at her home but kept a deaf ear.

President Museveni on June 18th 2021 banned congregations and other public gatherings as one of the measures to curb the spread of the COVID-19.
