President Yoweri Museveni has on Thursday appointed former minister Beti Namisango Kamya as the new Inspector General of Government (IGG).

Museveni also appointed Anne Muhairwe as the Deputy Inspector General of Government respectively.

Beti Kamya replaces Justice Irene Mulyagonja, who in July 2020, returned to the Judiciary to serve in the Court of Appeal.

Justice Mulyagonja left after completing two terms, which is the maximum period for one to serve as Inspector General of Government.

Museveni also appointed Ms. Anne Muhairwe as Deputy Inspector of Government. The gallant Judge of the High Court is the President of Uganda Christian Lawyers Fraternity.

Beti Kamya was the Cabinet Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development but dropped in the recent cabinet after she lost the Lubaga North parliamentary elections in January 2021.

The pronouncement of Beti Kamya’s appointment was made on Thursday, July 15 night by president Museveni under the mandate instituted in Article 223(4) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda.

By the Powers given to me under Article 223(4) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, I hereby, appoint Inspector General of Government – Beti Namisango Kamya,” read part of an official Tweet issued by President Museveni.

1. Inspector General of Government – Beti Namisango Kamya

2. Deputy Inspector of Government – Anne Muhairwe
