Husnah Kiribedda is among 333,396 candidates who sat their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) for 2020 and emerged with 15 aggregates. She has been studying at Kawempe Muslim Secondary School.

Husnah wants to be a lawyer and fight for alleged bias against the Muslim faith, especially when criminals attack high-profile figures in the country.

“Many Muslim suspects are tortured in detention unlike others of a different faith. I will fight for them once I become a lawyer. I will also fight for women’s rights, especially those with cases of land disputes and domestic violence,” she says.

Husnah attributes her success to Allah and good teachers who always encouraged her to concentrate on reading books and also believing in herself.

“Studying online during first Covid-19 lockdown has also contributed to my success since I managed to complete her syllabus on time, and I had enough time for revision,” she says.

Kawempe Muslim S.S, the school was among the first 100 best schools in the Kampala district. The school had a total of 213 candidates and out of these 205 students passed in first grade while 8 students passed in second grade.

According to Uneb, more students passed the 2020 UCE exams, compared to 2019, despite disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
