The police have warned both motorists and pedestrians for abusing the presidential directive on curfew.

Addressing the nation on Covid-19 after the second lockdown on Friday, President Yoweri Museveni maintained curfew from 7:00 pm to 5:30 am “to avoid thuggery under cover of darkness.”

“Without curfew, there will be too much socialization in the night. With the curfew, they may sanitize (drink) in their homes,” Museveni said.

Boda Bodas were also directed to stop operating at 6 pm.

On that note, Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson has said that starting from Tuesday, August 4, they will heighten operations against those flaunting curfew.

“Whoever will be found violating curfew guidelines, will be arrested, cars impounded and taken to courts of law for prosecution. We would like to advise members of the public to plan their schedule to avoid any inconvenience from the Police,” he said on Tuesday.
