By Nasser Kasozi Akandwanaho

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has on Thursday 19th August 2021 officially launched the National Food System Dialogue at Kololo independence grounds.

Below are the President’s remarks:
I launched the National Food System Dialogue at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds. This is a precursor of the Global Food Summit due here next month.

Uganda is uniquely blessed with the ability to produce food even for the whole world once we deal with a few bottlenecks.

I am happy that this conference puts us on task in dealing with these bottlenecks like Post-harvest problems, land fragmentation, value addition, Pests/Parasites, bad farming practices, and most importantly the issue of markets for our produce.

Recently, people had a huge yield of maize and all we could consume in Uganda was 1 million tonnes. The rest was put to waste. That is why we are pushing for market integration- a single African market.
