What Museveni, Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali Discussed?

President Yoweri Museveni met and held a bilateral meeting with visiting Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali on Sunday at State House, Entebbe,who is in Uganda for a one-day working visit.

Ethiopia and Uganda have been co-operating in various peace processes in the region.

The President revealed via Twitter that The meeting with H.E Abiy Ahmed Ali ended fruitfully and that both parties  agreed to ‘walk together’ on matters regarding strengthening cooperation in bilateral, regional, and international issues of common interest.

On the Ethiopian side, others who attended Sunday’s meeting were Minister Binalf Anduwalem, the Head of Prosperity Party Main Office; Redwan Hussain, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Alemtsehay Meseret, Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary to Uganda.

On Uganda’s side, in attendance was also foreign affairs minister Gen. Jeje Odongo and Uganda’s High Commissioner to Addis Ababa Rebecca Amuge Otengo.

Uganda and Ethiopia have agreed to further strengthen cooperation in bilateral, regional, and international issues of common interest.

State House said in a statement that the two countries are strong trade partners and cooperate in various peace processes in the region.

The meeting comes at a time when Ethiopia is grabbling with a major humanitarian crisis caused by the insurgency.

Abiy appreciated President Museveni for a warm welcome to Uganda and important deliberations on various bilateral and regional issues.

The meeting was attended by the Ethiopian minister – Head of Prosperity Party Main Office, Binalf Anduwalem, the state minister for Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Redwan Hussain, and Alemtsehay Meseret, Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary to the Republic of Uganda.
