Kawempe North Mp Hon Ssegirinya Muhammed has been roughed up by security personnel to an unknown destination.

This comes barely hours after the International Criminal Division High Court in Kololo granted the legislator a cash bail of 40 million shillings after he presented a substitute surety.

Previously, Ssegirinya had been denied bail on grounds that one of his substantial sureties Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake was out of the country.

Following a Court order on Monday afternoon to have the legislator released, his lawyers led by Shamim Malende immediately drove to Kigo prison on Entebbe road to serve them his release order.

Malende arrived at the prison in a white Toyota Prado by 2:30 pm with her driver and proceeded to release the legislator.

Security operatives at the entrance of the prison who had deployed heavily chased away journalists who had camped outside to witness the release of Ssegirinya.

Ssegirinya clad in a white long-sleeved shirt and black trouser was at 5:25 pm released and escorted alongside his lawyer Malende to their ride and the 2 started their journey out.

However, a few meters away, a speeding grey drone showed up and started chasing after Malende ‘s car.

The drone soon caught up with Malende’s car and pushed hard against it until it was forced to stop. It is at that point that 12 armed security personnel stormed out of the ride and grabbed the legislator before bundling him onto the car to an unknown destination.

Ssegirinya’s arrest is similar to that of his Makindye West counterpart Allan Ssewanyana on Thursday last week.

According to the police spokesperson, Fred Enanga said, Ssewanyana, who is currently detained at the Special Investigations Division in Kireka will any time either be released on police bond or arraigned before courts of law to answer the charges.

“The task time found it important to turn over those allegations against the MP and other suspects so hat they get his statement on these fresh charges. By close of business today, we will have known whether to charge him in courts of law or release him on bond since the 48 hours will elapse at 6pm.”
