Last week, police recovered the body of Patrick Turyasingura who had been reported missing on January, 25, 2022 .

The recovery came on January ,29 after the deceased’s brother, Norman Muhangi had on January 26 reported to Kabowa police post that he(Turyasingura) was missing.

“The brother(Muhangi) reported to police and wanted assistance in helping trace his whereabouts,”Owoyesigyire told theMedia in Kampala on Thursday.

However, a few days later, Naomi Tumwine, the wife to Charles Tumwine reported to neighbours that she had recovered Turyasingura’s body from a septic in the home that she owned.

Muhangi and Turyasingura were staying at the home.

After police was informed, the body was recovered from the septic tank and on being subjected to a postmortem examination, results indicated that the deceased had been strangled.

Consequently, Police arrested Naomi Tumwine and Norman Muhangi to assist in investigations into the incident after suspecting foul play in Turyasingura’s death.

“The body was in a decomposing state but the postmortem indicated the deceased had been strangled and later dropped in the septic tank. For the benefit of our investigations we arrested Norman Muhangi, the brother to the deceased and Naomi Tumwine his landlady,”Owoyesigyire said.

According to Luke, they have taken statements from the suspects and the two will appear in court on murder charges after investigations. Police is also on a hunt for Aduku Geoffrey a security guard at the unfinished house who disappeared a day before the deceased’s brother reported the matter at Kabowa police.COURTESY/PHOTO

He noted that this came after statements from both suspects were inconsistent and detectives decided to arrest them to aid investigations.

Police also started the hunt for one Geoffrey Oduku, a security guard at the premises who was said to have disappeared on the day Muhangi reported the disappearance of his brother to police.

Another body

However, as investigations progressed, on Thursday, police recovered a second body from the same septic tank at the home.

According to Owoyesigyire, the body was found in a decomposing state and could not be readily identified.

“However, there has been an ongoing inquiry at Katwe Police station into the disappearance of a male adult, one Akandida Roland from the same home which occurred in December 2020 , and the matter has been under investigations since,” he said.

Police said the second body has also been taken to the city mortuary in Mulago to carry out a postmortem examination but also a a DNA test to help clearly identify the remains recovered.

The Kampala Metropolitan deputy Police spokesperson said the two suspects earlier arrested are still in their custody whereas efforts are underway to arrest Charles Tumwine, the owner of the home in which the two bodies were recovered.
