Kenya Politicians, Mourn Safaricom’s CEO Collymore died of cancer

Politicians, business people and the staff of Safaricom have mourned Robert William Collymore, the chief executive officer of Safaricom, who passed on Monday morning at his home in Nairobi.

President Uhuru Kenyatta also released a statement mourning the death of the Safaricom boss citing that we have ‘lost a distinguished corporate leader whose contribution to our national wellbeing will be missed.’

“It is with deep sadness that I have this morning received news of the death of Safaricom CEOBob Collymore after years of battling cancer. As a country, we’ve lost a distinguished corporate leader whose contribution to our national wellbeing will be missed, “said President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Condolence messages came from far and wide including Kenya’s opposition politician Raila Odinga, Kenya Chief justice David Malaga and others.

My condolences go out to the friends and family of Mr Bob Collymore as well as the entire Safaricom fraternity.
Bob served our country with dedication and sustained us as a communication hub in Africa. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Kenyans also took to social media to send their condolences to the family.

According to the chairman of Safaricom, Collymore has been battling cancer since 2017, getting treatment in the UK and Aga Khan hospital.

He is survived by a wife and four children.
