All 20 living hostages abducted by Hamas during the October 7, 2023 attacks in southern Israel have now been released, the Israeli military confirmed on Sunday.
Among them are twin brothers Ziv and Gali Berman, who were seen together in Gaza earlier today.
The release came as part of a prisoner exchange deal, in which Israel will free 250 Palestinian prisoners along with more than 1,700 detainees.
The hostages had been held in Gaza for over a year, amid repeated international calls for their release.
U.S. former President Donald Trump, currently in Israel, is scheduled to address the Israeli parliament regarding the agreement and ongoing peace efforts.
Following his address, Trump is expected to travel to Egypt for a high-level peace summit with world leaders.
Trump had earlier declared that the “war is over” in Gaza, though he avoided providing detailed answers on the next phases of his proposed peace plan, according to our correspondent Tom Bateman.
The release marks a significant step toward easing tensions in the region, even as broader questions about long-term security and reconciliation remain.
