The Management of National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has responds to rumours in the social media indicating that there was an explosion at the Sonde water reservoir.

In the statement to the public, the NWSC says there was no explosion at the Sonde water reservoir and the tank is intact.

NWSC clears air that on Sunday morning, the inlet pipe that delivered water from Katosi Water Treatment Plant to the reservoir suffered a technical failure and gave way which caused water to enter some houses and compounds near the reservoir.

According to the NWSC, no one was injured in the incident. ”NWSC is in touch with the people who were inconvenienced and will resolve any outstanding issues with them,” partially reads the statement.

According to NWSC Press Statement, the tank and the pipeline are under the testing and defects liability period of the contract.

”Technical teams from the contractor and NWSC are fully mobilised and are working to repair the inlet pipe and restore water supply to the affected customers as soon as possible,” says NWSC.

Meanwhile, NWSC says as they undertake repair work and restoration of supply, customers served by the Sonde reservoir are advised to store water and use it sparingly as the technical teams repair the damaged pipeline and restore supply.
