The Uganda Red Cross Society has embarked on door-to-door and market sensitization in order to remind people about the Standard Operating Procedures and President’s directives.

The move follows violations of the SOP’s by people against the Ministry’s and President’s directives in the markets and surrounding places. The sensitization has been spearheaded by the Uganda Redcross Manager Kampala central branch Osbert Sserugo in Usafi market this morning.

While at Usafi market in a sensitization movement by Redcross, Osbert Sserugo the manager URCS Kampala central branch has said that the drive today has been focused on business women and men working from the Market places to ensure their safety while at work.

He has further said that he wants people to be aware of the services URCS offers like providing free ambulances in case they get a sick person or an emergency.

The team of URCS have decided to meet people and one by one to remind them of the hard times the country is going through and how best they can keep themselves safe. The team has further advised the vendors on the necessary fruits and foods to be consumed in order to keep their bodies strong enough to resist and fight any diseases.

Obed Mubangizi, a businessman selling in Usafi market, has commended the team for identifying the market vendors that needed sensitization among other services.

Osbert Sserugo the manager URCS has further called upon the general public including Usafi Market vendors to be vigilant  towards fighting the deadly coronavirus in the places they live in and also advised them to alert their neighbours about the symptoms and signs of  COVID-19.

The URCS has also given these people the toll free number just in case they get a sick person who needs help from the Market and the surrounding area.

He has further advised Ugandans to take this opportunity and go get vaccinated since the government has procured vaccines and availed them to Ugandans free of charge.

President Museveni and the ministry of Health gave directives to Ugandans of observing the SOPs with an aim that if all Ugandans work together with the Government in the fight against Covid 19, the country will then see the end of the pandemic.
