NAGURU-Police has confirmed the arrest of six suspects three of whom form part of the group which was actively involved in the shocking robbery at a Chinese residence in Kyambogo last month.
The suspects arrested entered the residence occupied by Chinese nationals located on Lower Estate Edinburg avenue in Kyambongo and pretended to be employees of National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC).
The police Spokesperson Fred Enaga, told the press on Monday in the joint press briefing at police headquarters in Nagulu that the three were arrested separately in Ntungamo and Bundibugyo districts.
Fred Enaga said that the arrest was conducted by a Joint team of CMI, Crime intelligence, Kampala Metropolitan East and the local police Units and that one of the suspects identified as Elizabeth Kiiza aged 32 was arrested through advanced surveillance techniques in Ntugamo district where she was constructing a house for her mother and her arrest lead to the arrest of other gang members who were tracked down and arrested from Bundibugyo at one of the guest houses called Buturaka guest house
Enanga said, that these where planning another robbery mission in the DRC and they had hired a vehicle to cross through DRC but police managed to impound the vehicle and arrest the suspects, who include, Edison Musinguzi a 35-year-old resident of Nansana Ganda, Kalyango a Wilson 46-year-old resident of Mengo, Mperese Joseph a 37-year-old resident of Kasese and Muwoza Dan a 26-year-old resident of Mperewe.
Enanga warned home owners and helpers to be on the lookout for the imposters who usually disguise themselves as utility workers because in this error the public should know that robbers are adopting all forms of creative ways to break into people’s homes and steal from them.
