Ambassador Dr. Sheikh Rashid Yahya Ssemuddu on Tuesday commended H.E Sheikh Ismail Ibn Musa Menk, the Grand Mufti of the Republic of Zimbabwe for his leadership that has brought unity, built bridges between believers in Islam and other religions as well as his role in mentoring religious leaders world over through his supplications.

Speaking at the IMNAQ Social Development and Dawa, Charity Iftar Dinner on Tuesday at Pearl of Africa Hotel in Kampala, Ambassador Dr.Rashid Ssemuddu thanked the Almighty Allah for the gift of life and for enabling hosts to organize such a benefiting function that united all Muslims across the country.

“Special thanks to the Almighty Allah for this auspicious occasion, once again when we are united as a country and community with our beloved brother, imminent scholar, leader and fellow African, H.E. Sheikh Ismail Ibn Musa Menk,” Dr. Ssemuddu said.

Ambassador Ssemuddu said the religious works and supplications done by Mufti Menk globally as a pre-eminent preacher and scholar inspired him and others into doing religious charity and this is backed by some history they share.

“I and Mufti Menk attended the same Islamic University in Madinah, and we both graduated from that university,  Allah blessed Mufti Menk with good knowledge the way  Allah has done to virtually all the Alumni from the university  located in the holy city of Madinatul Munnawara, the source of light”, said Dr. Ssemuddu.

On behalf of other Ugandans, Dr. Ssemuddu appreciated the good work that the Grand Mufti of Zimbabwe, contemporary preacher and Islamic intellectual continues to do for Moslems and non- Moslems all over the world.

“This is not a form of praise, which he has stated before that he is against, but a form of appreciation which is part of the Prophet’s traditions. PBUH”, Ssemuddu added.

Ambassador Ssemuddu assured Mufti Menk that the love Ugandans have towards him cannot be judged by the number of people who have made it to the venue.

Amb. Ssemuddu added that as the Moslem fraternity, they are honored to be part of the fundraising initiative aimed at raising funds to help the disadvantaged especially during this holy month of Ramadhan and they stand to reap immense benefits from the efforts and deeds.

Dr. Ssemuddu used the same platform to convey the heartfelt though belated condolences to Mufti Menk for the loss of the former President of Zimbabwe the late Robert Gabriel Mugabe, on September 6, 2019.
