The Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Manager, SPA Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has lauded the efforts of Ugandan diaspora farmers Williams Baagala and Denis Kiwanuka for their outstanding contribution to agribusiness during a visit to their 45-hectare BMP Namukasa Farm in Roodeplaat, Mpumalanga Province.

The farm, which integrates large-scale vegetable cultivation and commercial poultry production, is regarded as one of the most advanced Ugandan-owned agricultural enterprises in Southern Africa.
It currently produces cabbage, sukuma wiki, and poultry, while providing employment to both Ugandans and South Africans.
Namyalo, who is leading an ongoing diaspora empowerment and mobilisation tour commissioned by President Yoweri Museveni, described the farm as a model for agro-industrial transformation that Uganda can emulate.
“This is a transformative project by our own people,” she said after touring the farm. “Kiwanuka and Baagala are not just feeding communities here; they are building an agricultural blueprint that Uganda can learn from and replicate.”
In recognition of their achievement and to boost productivity, Namyalo delivered $10,000 in empowerment funds from President Museveni, aimed at supporting expansion and strengthening Uganda–South Africa diaspora collaboration in agribusiness.
The ONC Chief also made three key commitments:
Linkage with Uganda’s Ministry of Agriculture for knowledge exchange and technical cooperation;
Training opportunities for Ugandan farmers to learn from diaspora-led agricultural innovation, and submission of a formal report to the President on how successful farms like BMP Namukasa can be replicated in Uganda.
“These are not just farms; they are powerful centres of knowledge and opportunity. We must harness their lessons to empower farmers back home,” Namyalo emphasized.
The visit comes as part of a broader ONC tour across Gauteng, Pretoria, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, and Limpopo, aimed at empowering Ugandans in the diaspora and consolidating support for the ruling NRM party ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Agricultural experts have praised the BMP Namukasa model, calling it a scalable success story that illustrates the critical role Ugandans abroad can play in both local development and the transformation of Uganda’s agricultural sector.
