The NCBA Uganda Monthly Mug culminated in a thrilling finale this past weekend with the highly anticipated Mug of Mugs event at Mary Louise Simkins Golf Club, Namulonge.
After months of fierce competition, the event drew golf enthusiasts and professionals alike, cementing its reputation as one of Uganda’s premier golf tournaments.
The series, sponsored by NCBA Uganda, captivated golfers of all skill levels over several months.
More than just a competition, the Monthly Mug created a platform for Uganda’s sports and business communities to connect, showcasing the camaraderie and sportsmanship that define golf.
The grand finale lived up to expectations, featuring top-tier golfing talent vying for prizes and recognition.
Spectators were treated to an electric atmosphere, complete with networking sessions, live entertainment, and a celebratory spirit marking the end of the series.
Mark Muyobo, Managing Director of NCBA Uganda, lauded the tournament’s impact on Uganda’s golfing landscape.
“We are thrilled with the success of the Monthly Mug and how it has united Uganda’s golfing community. It not only promotes the sport but also builds relationships and fosters partnerships within the business and financial sectors,” he remarked during the closing ceremony.
The competition’s climax saw Christopher Magezi emerge as the overall champion with an impressive score of 285 points.
Allan Akira claimed the runner-up spot, while other participants received accolades, including awards for the Longest Drive, Nearest to the Pin, and a special category for senior golfers.
Beyond the competition, the event underscored NCBA Uganda’s commitment to financial inclusion and youth development.
The tournament provided a platform to nurture young golfers while introducing participants to NCBA’s financial products, including asset finance, salary loans, mortgages, and business loans.
Magezi, the overall winner, praised the event for its unique blend of sports and business. “It’s been an incredible experience.
Not only have I improved my game, but I’ve also met amazing people. I’m deeply grateful to NCBA Bank for organizing such a meaningful event,” he said.
The success of the NCBA Monthly Mug highlights the growing popularity of golf in Uganda and its potential to drive community engagement and economic growth.
As a staple on Uganda’s sporting calendar, the tournament promises even greater achievements in the years ahead, strengthening the bond between the sporting and business communities.
