Lies of Politicians: Gov’t Clarifies Hon. Zzake in Turkey on Parliament Work, not Lumbuye as Alleged

The Embassy would like to clarify that Hon. Francis Zzaake traveled to Turkey as part of a Delegation of Parliamentary Commissioners and other members of Parliament on Official Government business to undertake a benchmarking visit at the request of the Parliament of the Republic of Uganda. The visit is being coordinated by the Ugandan Embassy in Ankara with the relevant authorities of the Republic of Turkey.

The Government of Uganda, through the Ministry of Internal Affairs and its Embassy in Turkey, has refuted claims that Mityana MP Francis Zzake Butebi travelled to Turkey to specifically intervene in the Fred Lumbuye situation.

To the contrary, the GoU clarifies, Zzake travelled to Turkey for state duties including participating in a benchmarking trip initiated, funded, and facilitated by the GoU through Parliament which is one of the arms of the state.

That the available official information, relating to the clearance of Zzake’s entry into Turkey by the concerned Turkish authorities, makes it clear that the militant MP is there strictly on behalf of the GoU and never disclosed assisting Lumbuye as part of the reason for his travel.

Here is the reproduce the Government of Uganda’s clarification statement as was sent to us by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
