President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will address the nation on Saturday on the status of Covid 19 in the country, the State House spokesperson Lindah Nabusaayi has said.
The country has been in a 42 day lockdown since June 2021 as part of the efforts to control the spread of Covid 19.
By the time the lock down was announced, the Ministry of Health was declaring more than 1000 cases of Covid 19 registered every day.
However, the country currently receives an average of 350 cases every day, days into the lockdown.
The 42 days announced by the head of state are expected to elapse on Saturday July 31st. However, President Museveni is also expected to declare the new course of action on that day.
“@KagutaMuseveni will address the Nation this Saturday July 31, 2021 at 8pm on #COVID-19 and any other related issues. The address will be live on all Television and Radio stations Tune in,” Nabusaayi the Senior Presidential Press Secretary said on her official twitter account.
It is not clear whether the President will ease the lockdown or extend the lockdown for more days.
