The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has begun a far-reaching community impact drive as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, unveiling a series of interventions aimed at improving education and healthcare across the country.

The initiative, branded “40 Good Deeds,” was officially launched at Kiyunga Islamic Primary School in Mukono, where the Fund committed UGX 112 million toward extensive renovation works. The effort is one of 40 activities scheduled to run through NSSF’s 21 branches nationwide.

Led by Acting Managing Director Gerald Paul Kasaato, Chief Commercial Officer Geoffrey Sajjabi, and Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs Barbra Teddy Arimi, the launch attracted district leaders, NSSF staff, and the school community. The contribution is expected to significantly improve the learning environment for pupils at the government-aided school.

Speaking at the event, Kasaato said the anniversary offers the Fund an opportunity to reflect on four decades of service while giving back to the communities that have entrusted it with their savings. “Our 40 years have been a journey of growth and impact. This campaign is our way of celebrating that journey by supporting underprivileged communities,” he noted. “Across the country, our branches will be implementing projects that strengthen healthcare, promote inclusive education, improve sanitation, and expand digital literacy.”

Among the planned interventions are the renovation of five public schools in each of the five regions, supply of medical equipment to selected health centres, support to schools serving learners with special needs, and the rollout of digital literacy programs in 13 primary schools in Nakasongola, Mpigi, and Buikwe in partnership with the Uganda Communications Commission and World Vision.

NSSF Lira Branch also handed over essential medical equipment, including a Hemocue machine, to Boroboro Health Centre III, a donation expected to enhance diagnostic services and patient care. The handover, led by Branch Manager Humphrey Ogwang, was received by the facility’s in-charge, Dr. Irene Abeja Acheka, who praised the contribution as timely and impactful.

Kasaato said the Fund has allocated over UGX 900 million to the nationwide CSR activities. He also acknowledged partners such as MTN Uganda, Housing Finance Bank, and Next Media, whose involvement in the NSSF Kampala Hills Run has helped drive resources toward community upliftment.

As the anniversary campaign unfolds, NSSF says it hopes the 40 Good Deeds will leave a lasting mark on the communities it serves, reinforcing its mandate not only as a social security institution but also as a champion of national development.
