UPC, FDC leaders from northern region endorse Museveni’s Sole Candidature 2021

The leaders from northern Uganda representing all political sheds and opinions, Uganda People’s Congress and other leaders from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) have resolved to endorse President Yoweri Museveni as the sole candidate for the 2021 Presidential elections.

They said while they don’t belong to the NRM party, but agree with President Yoweri Museveni’s development agenda, especially infrastructure development, peace and developmen

Amid cheering and dancing, Ogwal Ojok the NRM chairman for Oyam district read a resolution endorsing President Museveni as the sole candidate.

He was seconded by  Okello Onac, the LC5 chairman of Kwania district, a staunch UPC supporter, Ogutu Brian the LC5 Councilor and Chairman FDC in Oyam, Ouma Celestine, the UPC  councillor and secretary for Finance and administration in Oyam district and Masor Bashir, the workers’ councillor.

The leaders reiterated that while they do don’t belong to the NRM party, they support President Museveni’s great development efforts, including infrastructure development and democracy.

They later presented to him a shield, spear and a stool to symbolize power. The said the northern region has witnessed unprecedented growth since the end of the Kony war and peace returned, hosting one of the largest dams in Uganda, Karuma, and solid road network from border to border.

President Yoweri Museveni is in Lango region as part of his national tours to promote the job and wealth creation campaign through zonal meetings. The President is due to hold a rally in Lira and later address the nation at a press conference.
