Wendi, the digital wallet developed by Pearl Bank, formerly PostBank Uganda, announced a partnership today with TotalEnergies Marketing and Services aimed at simplifying customer payments at all Total fuel stations.
Customers will now be able to use the Wendi mobile wallet platform to pay for fuel, gas, car services and shop purchases at all Total stations. Transactions can range from a minimum of 500 Ugandan shillings to a maximum of 5 million shillings per transaction.
The maximum customer wallet balance is 20 million shillings, while the merchant wallet balance has no limit. The enrollment of dealer stations is ongoing and is expected to be completed by the end of November 2025.
Peter Ssenyange, Pearl Bank Uganda’s chief financial officer, highlighted Wendi’s role as an innovative solution enabling access to digital financial services.
“Wendi is a solution provider, and its name, which can be translated as ‘I am here,’ proves that the wallet is here to support our people in their day-to-day transactions,” Ssenyange said at the partnership event. “We are glad to join efforts with TotalEnergies M&S to enable make their payments fast, secure, and affordable.”
Ssenyange added that in addition to fuel payments, Wendi users receive 10 percent annual interest on savings to encourage a saving culture among Ugandans.
To pay at Total stations, Wendi customers scan a merchant QR code or enter the Wendi merchant code, then enter their personal identification number to confirm the transaction.
Joseph Wechuli, TotalEnergies’ finance manager, said on behalf of the managing director that the partnership champions sustainability and innovative approaches that drive convenience.
“This partnership with Wendi highlights TotalEnergies’ commitment to innovation and customer convenience,” Wechuli said. “By introducing digital payment options at our fuel stations, we are giving customers easier and more flexible ways to pay for fuel and other services.”
First-time customers can access Wendi via USSD by dialing *229# or by downloading the Wendi Mobile Wallet App. Registration requires a national identification card and details including their National Identification Number.
