President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has disclosed that he is mpressed by the level of uptake and utilisation of Parish Development Model Funds in Makindye Ssabagabo Division of Wakiso District and has promised to increase the amount disbursed to the urban PDM parishes.

President Museveni made the remarks yesterday after visiting Ms Lillian Nagawa a Parish Development Model beneficiary at Kaazi village in Busabala Parish – Makindye Ssabagabo who initially started in the piggery business then shifted to  poultry and has since added another enterprise of goats.

The President said that the Parish Development Model beneficiaries should realise that the money belongs to them and if utilised well they will change their lives and asked them to defend the funds from thieves because it is a safe haven from exploitative money lenders.

Ealier in the day President Museveni visited Ms Priscilla Mwirumubi, a hair salon owner and proud beneficiary of the Emyooga program in Entebbe whose entrepreneurial spirit is a good example of how people can be empowered and create self-reliance.

The President noted that Mwirumubi success story illustrates the impact of NRM’s  policies in transforming lives because she has created wealth out of nothing and now she is employing five people.
