Ministry of Water and Environment Strengthens Partnerships Through MoU Signings Ahead of Uganda Water and Environment Week 2026

On 6th March, 2026, the Permanent Secretary – Ministry of Water and Environment; Dr. Alfred Okot Okidi officiated at the Partners’ Breakfast Meeting and Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony that was held at SKYZ Hotel in Naguru.

The meeting was organized by the Ministry of Water and Environment in collaboration with Water for People, Uganda Bankers Association and ZOA Uganda to brief the Partners’ and Stakeholders about the 9th Uganda Water and Environment Week 2026 and also to sign various Memorandum of Understanding with these partners and MWE.

This meeting also explored opportunities for strengthening partnerships and collaboration with the rest of Stakeholders in pursuit of efforts towards the achievement of Agenda 2030, Africa Agenda 2063, Uganda’s Vision 2040, the National Development Plan, and other national commitments.

There was signing and launching of the following partnerships:

  1. A tripartite MoU between the Ministry, Water for People and Uganda Bankers Association that is designed to deliver cutting edge Environmental, Social, and Governance financing capacity development programs for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (ESG-WASH).
  2. A bilateral MoU between the Ministry and ZOA Uganda that will strengthen collaboration in the co-design and implementation of new approaches, projects, and programs that align with the Catchment-Based Integrated Water Resources Management Framework.
  3. A bilateral MoU between the Ministry and Water for People that will facilitate joint development of water, sanitation and hygiene services and management, protection and conservation of water and environment resources.

These partnerships are being pursued to supplement Government efforts in the delivery of water and sanitation and environment and climate change services in the country.

  • Civil Society Organizations
  • Stakeholders
  • Media
