The Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority, Sharifah Buzeki, has announced a new intake for free skills training under the authority’s Employment Services Bureau, following the successful completion of the first cohort.

The programme, launched earlier this year at the bureau located on Sezibwa Road in Nakasero, has attracted significant public interest, with many young people enrolling to gain practical, job-ready skills.

“We are pleased that the trainees who enrolled are now completing their courses,” Buzeki said, noting that the initiative is already making strides in equipping youth with competencies needed for employment and entrepreneurship.

Due to overwhelming demand, KCCA has opened registration for the next cohort, with clear guidelines for prospective applicants.

The training remains free of charge and is open to individuals who can read and write, and who are able to present a letter of introduction from their Local Council (LC1), a valid National ID, and a passport photograph.

The training will take place at Plot 1, Sezibwa Road, Nakasero, where the Employment Services Bureau is based. Officials say the programme is designed to directly address youth unemployment by offering practical skills that can be applied in both formal jobs and small business ventures.

According to Buzeki, the next intake will begin with Basic ICT training on April 19, 2026, while other courses are scheduled to commence on July 1, 2026.

She emphasized that instructors are fully prepared to support the incoming trainees.

“Our investment in youth employability should not go untapped,” she said, urging young people across Kampala to take advantage of the opportunity.

The KCCA initiative is part of broader efforts to tackle unemployment in the city, particularly among young people, by bridging the gap between education and the skills demanded in the job market.

Authorities are now encouraging the public to spread the word and ensure that as many eligible youth as possible benefit from the programme.
