Victoria University plans to build a new campus in Naguru and expects construction to begin this year, the institution’s vice-chancellor told The Homeland Newspaper.
Dr. Lawrence Muganga released architectural impressions of the proposed facility and said the project would expand the university’s presence in the capital. The campus is to be sited in Naguru, in a part of Kampala that has been developing rapidly.
The drawings, he said, had prompted some observers to assume they were produced by artificial intelligence.
“At first glance, you might think someone got a little too creative with AI. But no, these are the actual design impressions of the upcoming Victoria University Kampala, Uganda, campus in the heart of Kampala, Naguru to be exact, close to Phaneroo,” Dr Muganga said.
He said work was due to start this year and that he was looking forward to seeing the designs turned into a working campus.
“Yes, this is happening, and I am excited to share that work begins this year,” he said. “We cannot wait to see these images become something you can actually walk into, experience, and call home. This one is going to be beautiful.”
Dr Muganga said students and staff were awaiting a new setting for teaching and day-to-day interaction once the buildings are finished. He described the project as an important step for the university and for those who will use it.
Victoria University, which is based in Kampala is a leading private university and boasts of innovation, practical learning and digitally enabled education, as its flagships. The institution aims to change how education is delivered, especially through digital methods and technology.
