Victoria University has acquired a new branded bus as preparations for its 10th graduation ceremony advance, the institution announced ahead of the two-day event scheduled for Monday and Tuesday at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
The vehicle is painted in the university’s red and black colours and carries the inscription “The Future Is Here.” Officials said the acquisition expands the institution’s transport fleet and increases its public visibility as it finalises arrangements for the ceremonies.
The graduation, which runs under the same theme, will bring together graduands, parents, guardians, university officials and invited guests. Monday’s proceedings will cover students from the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Health Sciences. Tuesday’s session will include graduands from the Faculty of Business and Management and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Both days are set to begin at 7:00 a.m.
Victoria University, often referred to as the “University of You,” is led by Vice Chancellor Professor Lawrence Muganga. The institution has emphasised practical and student-centred programmes that link classroom instruction with workplace experience. Graduates receive a Work-Integrated Learning Transcript documenting industry projects, professional competencies and practical skills acquired during their studies, in addition to standard academic records.
The university offers programmes in fields including law, pharmacy, nursing science, business, journalism, tourism, agriculture and education, as well as diploma and postgraduate courses. Officials described the graduation as both a recognition of students’ academic progress and an opportunity to highlight the institution’s approach to preparing graduates for the job market.
The ceremonies mark the culmination of years of study for the graduands and an occasion for families to mark the milestone.
