The new KCCA executive director, Dr. Dorothy Kisaka, on Thursday, July 30, 2020 took oath and pledged to work with the political wing of the Kampala City Headed by the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago for the development of the city.

Dr. Dorothy Kisaka, whose appointment to the job was recently endorsed by Parliament’s Appointments committee following nomination by the President, said she will work towards minimizing interruptions to development by building bridges that promote peace among the many stakeholders.

 “We cannot develop the city in the midst of unending intentional interruptions. We will promote a culture that says ‘we are bigger than the differences that divide us’. The people of Kampala deserve that. We can all win,” she said.

Dr.Kisaka and others took, two oaths which include the oath of secrecy and that of KCCA executive director were administered by the Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet John Mitala in the presence of the Minister of Kampala Betty Amongi, the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and KCCA councilors.

Others who took oath included Eng. David Lule Luyimbazi who replaces Sam Serunkuma as Deputy Executive Director KCCA and Grace Akol as the Director Human Resource and Management.

Under Jennifer Musisi tenure service delivery in the Kampala city was greatly affected by frictions between the technical and political wings which Dr.Dorothy pledged to bridge and work towards a clean, secure and prosperous Kampala city.

Dr. Kisaka replaces Eng. Andrew Kitaka who has been acting executive director since Jennifer Musisi resigned in 2018.

Eng. Kitaka, who has been acting ED will now return to his position as director of engineering and technical services.

Minister Amongin lauded Kitaka’s team for leading the city with sincerity and asked the new team to always take forward what has been started

Dr.Dorothy Kisaka is currently serving as the secretary and administrator of the national response fund against COVID-19.
