The Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) delegates of in the West Nile region have endorsed Maj. Gen. (rtd) Mugisha Muntu as the party’s flag-bearer for the presidency in the 2021 general election.

Muntu was handed the party flag and constitution at Eri Park Resort Beach in Arua district during the party’s delegates’ conference that was held on Monday.

Rogers Bichwa, an officer of ANT’s electoral commission, announced that nobody had opposed Muntu’s endorsement.

Muntu said the country needs a leadership that provides equal opportunities to all citizens.

He said the current leadership will not help the citizens of Uganda, adding that ANT will build on the truth and values of the human beings.

“By the grace of God, we must fight this war through the ballot box. Come 2021, we must win the elections and be in State House,” Muntu said.

Arua Central Division MP Kassiano Wadri Ezati, while presenting Muntu to the delegates, said Muntu left the comfort zone of his late father who was the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) chairman for Ankole region and joined Yoweri Museveni in the fight for the liberation of Uganda.

Wadri, one of the party’s founders, urged the party members to sell Muntu as a candidate because he is the only leader that can transform the country.

“After National Resistance Movement (NRM) took over the leadership, the Government under the leadership of President Museveni failed to honour what they had agreed on and resolved to suppress the rest of the comrades.

This led to the formation of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party and thereafter ANT by former comrades,” he said.

Wadri praised the ANT president, saying he is an honest, long-serving military officer who is a God-fearing man who is not corrupt and has no criminal record.

Kelvin Ochaya, a delegate hailing from Terego district and aspiring Youth MP for northern Uganda, said through Muntu the country will be transformed to a status that every Ugandan will admire and enjoy living in

Nezima Ocokoru, the party coordinator for Arua city and aspirant for the mayorship of Arua Central division, said ANT is the only party with core values that stand to improve the lives of Ugandans.

Gloria Aciro, a delegate and an aspirant for the Madi-Okollo District Woman Member of Parliament seat, said the ANT under the leadership of Mugisha Muntu will liberate the youth of Uganda from the shackles of unemployment.
