Jacob Oulanyah New Speaker 11th Parliament

Jacob Oulanyah is the Speaker of the 11th Parliament Results read by Jane Kibirige, the clerk to the August House indicate.

Rebecca Kadaga, Oulanyah and Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda have been engulfed in a battle to lead the August House.

However, results being tallied after the Parliamentary speakership election indicate that Oulanyah Garnered up to 310 votes, Kadaga 197, and thus won the election. FDC’s Ibrahim Ssemujju got 15 votes.

The Chief Justice of Alfonse Owiny-Dollo who presided over the election later declared Oulanyah as the speaker of the August House.

Oulanyah will now preside over the election of the Deputy Speaker. President Museveni is expected to address the house today.

Parliament has 529 members of Parliament. There have been three invalid votes.
