COVID-19: Uganda registers 10,000 cases ahead of schools reopening on thursday

Uganda has registered 124 new COVID-19 cases from bringing the total confirmed cases to 10,069.

The new cases, according to the Ministry of Health are part of the tests carried out on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.

122 of the new cases are contacts and alerts to previously confirmed cases.

“Kampala (37), Luwero (24), Kikuube (13), Rubanda (12), Hoima (7), Wakiso (4), Amuru (4), Omoro (3), Gulu (2), Jinja (7), Kisoro (2), Lira (4), Kwania (1), Masindi (1) and Mukono (1),” the ministry said in a statement.

Additionally, 2 returnees from Jordan also tested positive for COVID-19.

To date, 6,531 have recovered from COVID-19 while 95 have died of the same.

On Thursday, October 15th, education institutions will be reopening for candidate classes and finalists at primary, secondary and higher institutions of learning after nearly seven months of closure.
