Edward Sebuufu [Eddie Mutwe], Buken Ali alias Nubian LI, Ntege William commonly known as Kyuma Kya Yesu, and other 23 National Unity Platform (NUP) members who have been facing charges in Masaka high court have on Monday evening arrived at Makindye Military Barracks in Kampala to face the Court Martial.

The Homeland Newspaper has reliably learned that the NUP crew who were arrested in Kalangala a week ago have been detained in Masaka after Court declined to grant them bail.

“They were brought in a prison bus and escorted by a military convoy. They reached Makindye at around 7 pm,” said a source at Makindye military barracks.

Among those transferred to Makindye include Edward Sebuufu alias Eddie Mutwe, Buken Ali aka Nubian LI, Ntege William commonly known as Kyuma Kya Yesu, and others.

This comes a day after NUP legal officers wrote a letter to Court and Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) to have Mutwe and his group released before January 19 when they would appear before the Magistrate for mention of their case.

However, the lawyers’ efforts had been unsuccessful by the time the crew was transported from Masaka to Makindye.

It remains unclear what new charges Mutwe and his crew will face in the Military Court.

The Homeland Newspaper made efforts to acertain the facts from concerned military officials failed after they declined to comment on this development

However, a high-ranking soldier who preferred anonymity accepted having admission of Eddi Mutwe and Crew at Military barracks Makindye but questioned how the Homeland Newspaper learned about this deadly information. “How did you know?” he asked before ending the call.

Eddie Mutwe heads Robert Kyagulanyi’s security, he was arrested in Kalangala last week along with several others on Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s campaign trail.

They were taken to Masaka prison.

Last Monday accused NUP supporters appeared before Masaka Chief Magistrate Charles Yeteise who read them charges of participating in an act likely to spread infectious disease of covid 19 as well as inciting violence with other colleagues.

Undoubtably 126 were released but Mutwe and 22 others had fresh charges like assaulting police officers on duty and malicious damage to property slapped on them. They were remanded.

Its alleged that Buken Ali aka Nubian Lee, Edward Sebuufu aka Eddie Mutwe, Ntege William aka Kyuma kya Yesu and others on 30th December 2020 at Kibaale Village did an act likely to spread Covid 19 a dangerous disease.

The magistrate adjourned the matter to 19th January 2020 for mention of their new cases.

It’s further alleged that Bukeni Ali aka Nubian Lee, Edward Sebuufu aka Eddie Mutwe, and Ntege William aka Kyuma Kya Yesu on 30th December in Mugoye Sub County, Kalangala District incited people to form a procession which could lead to loss of property and lives.

Those on fresh charges include Stanley Kafuko, Lukeman Kampala and Hassan Katumba.
