Century Bodaboda Riders Association has this Monday morning resolved to play tough on colleagues that have failed to observe covid-19 health guidelines.

The bodaboda association has employed road blocks on streets of Kampala including Ndeeba, Diniya ku muzikiti and Kasubi to arrest all those riders contravening the government Standard Operating Procedures.

The Bodaboda riders that were caught carrying more than one passenger were held but later released by the association’s security after ten minutes.

“The tactic of holding them for ten minutes is intended to reduce on the number of Bodaboda riders that carry two passengers at ago. We think that no passenger can wait for 10 minutes without getting an alternative,” said Yasin Sebuguzi, a security officer in the association.

However, other bodaboda riders were cautioned and later sensitized on the guidelines including using masks, sanitizing, putting on helmets and then carrying one passenger.

The Century Bodaboda Rivers Association team said that they will continue with the efforts until their colleagues start adhering to the ministry of health SOPs.

Ibrahim Kamya Sserwadda a member of the association said that they will not sit down and wait for another lock down yet they can sensitize their colleagues to follow the directives.

This comes at a time when the President is expected to address the nation tomorrow 25th August, 2020 on the status quo about the Covid – 19 pandemic.
